My C.D. drive won't open unless I use the safety release, why isn't it working?

I just tried to rip some files into my library from a C.D., and then RealPlayer closed on me. I waited a second for it to relax, the computer probably got overloaded, and then tried to take my C.D. out. Didn't work. But it does that sometimes, so I tried it again. Didn't work. Pressed harder, didn't work. I had to get a needle to press the safety release and get it out. Why is it doing this? Should I restart? Also, a program called "DoctorWarrenPostBartum" or something said it encountered a problem and needed to close, along with RealPlayer. Thanks!

don't you mean dr watson post mortem? it is part of windows diagnostics system which obviously encountered a problem with real player. try uninstalling real player and reinstalling or use a different software- windows media player, nero, there are plenty more good ones which are a lot more user friendly!

restart your computer

dont use real player
Reply:In Windows XP, right click on the CD drive and choose Eject. If this works then you know the hardware is good.
